## Product facts

| Product | Brand | Brand origin | Made in | Material | Released | Price range (typical US retail, October 2026) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| BIC Wite-Out Brand EZ Correct Correction Tape, White | BIC (by Société BIC (France); sold in the US by BIC Corporation) | France | Japan; Mexico | Film-based white correction tape in a plastic dispenser | – | $: under $5 per item |

- Made in (BIC Wite-Out Brand EZ Correct Correction Tape, White): Japan; Mexico. US grocery listings for the single tape (Stop & Shop, Giant) give "Made in Japan, Mexico", rechecked October 20, 2026, so a given pack may come from either. BIC's French corporate site has no product pages for Wite-Out, which is a North American brand (BIC sells correction tape in Europe as Tipp-Ex), and its former consumer sites now return 'gone'. ## Key takeaways

- Each dispenser holds 12 m (39.3 ft) of white tape, 4.2 mm (1/6 in) wide, per US retailer listings.
- At 4.2 mm, one pass covers a line of handwriting on college ruling (7.1 mm) or wide ruling (8.7 mm).
- By our arithmetic, one roll covers about 55 full lines across an 8.5 in letter page.
- It's film tape that goes on dry; retailers list it as tear-resistant and non-refillable.
- AS Insight estimated about 40,000 Amazon sales a month for the 4-pack in July 2026, the most in its category search.

## What is BIC Wite-Out EZ Correct?

**It's a handheld dispenser that rolls a thin strip of white film tape over a mistake, so you can write on top of it straight away.** It belongs to BIC's Wite-Out line, which also includes correction fluid, and it's one of the most-bought correction tapes on Amazon in the US. The pack copy calls Wite-Out "America's no. 1 correction brand", citing NPD Group US dollar sales for 2019.

Third-party tracker AS Insight estimated about 40,000 Amazon sales a month for the EZ Correct 4-pack in July 2026, the most in its search for BIC correction tape. BIC also makes the [BIC Cristal](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/bic-cristal/) ballpoint, a common pen to correct.

## BIC Wite-Out EZ Correct specs

| Spec | Value |
|---|---|

| Tape width | 4.2 mm (1/6 in) |
| Tape length | 12 m (39.3 ft) per dispenser |
| Tape | White, film-based, applies dry |
| Refillable | No |
| Packs | Single, and 3-, 4- and 10-packs (10-pack: item 50790) |
| Made in | Japan; Mexico (per US listings) |
| Market | Wite-Out is BIC's North American correction brand; in Europe BIC sells correction tape as Tipp-Ex |

Width, length, tape type and origin are from US grocery listings (Stop & Shop, Giant). A Canadian dealer's 3-pack listing also gives 4.2 mm × 12 m, though one field there says 0.20 in, which doesn't match. We found no published size or weight for the dispenser itself.

## How much does one tape cover?

**About 55 full lines across a letter-size page, by our arithmetic: 12 m of tape divided by the 8.5 in (216 mm) width of the sheet.** Real use covers far more corrections than that, because most fixes are a word or two long.

The 4.2 mm width is the number that matters day to day. College ruling puts 7.1 mm between lines and wide ruling 8.7 mm, as on the [Five Star 5 Subject notebook](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/five-star-5-subject-notebook/), so one strip covers a line of writing without touching the lines above and below.

*A 4.2 mm strip fits inside a college-ruled (7.1 mm) or wide-ruled (8.7 mm) line space.*

## Can you write over it right away?

**Yes: it's a dry film, so there's nothing to wait for, unlike liquid correction fluid.** Retailers describe the tape as film-based, tear-resistant and applied dry.

How well a given pen writes on the film is something we'll test. Gel and ballpoint inks behave differently on a smooth plastic surface, so try your own pen on a scrap first.

## How does it compare with Tombow MONO correction tape?

**Both are popular, inexpensive film tapes; BIC sells more units on Amazon, and reviewers who compare the two tend to rate Tombow's quality slightly higher.**

| | BIC Wite-Out EZ Correct | Tombow MONO (68720 10-pack) |
|---|---|---|
| Tape | 4.2 mm × 12 m, film | Not checked for this guide |
| Amazon popularity | About 40,000 a month for the 4-pack (AS Insight estimate, July 2026) | No. 5 in Correction Tape, 4.7 of 5 from 17,677 ratings (undated snapshot) |
| Refillable | No | Not checked |

One reviewer sums it up as Tombow slightly better quality than BIC, and a Staples reviewer says MONO is the only correction tape they buy. We haven't tested either side by side yet.

## Is correction tape better than an erasable pen?

**They solve different problems: tape hides permanent ink, while an erasable pen avoids the mark in the first place.** For drafts and planners, an erasable gel pen such as the [Pilot FriXion Clicker](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/pilot-frixion-clicker/) may save you the tape. For ballpoint notes and printed forms, tape is the cleaner fix.

## Where is BIC Wite-Out EZ Correct made?

**US grocery listings give Japan and Mexico as countries of origin.** That suggests BIC sources the tape from more than one plant, so the pack in your hand may say either. BIC is a French company, and BIC Corporation sells it in the US.
