## What is the Kodomo no Kao Pochitto6?

**It's a stick of six tiny self-inking stamps: you hold it over the page and press the button above the design you want.** "Pochitto" is the Japanese sound of a button being pressed, and the 6 is the number of stamps.

Kodomo no Kao is a Japanese rubber-stamp maker, and it calls the Pochitto6 one of its most popular products. Hobonichi has sold Pochitto6 editions with its Techo planners since at least the 2023 lineup, which is how many US planner users first meet it.

*Top and underside at 6 px = 1 mm: six buttons, six 5.5 mm stamps.*

## How big is a Pochitto6 print?

**About 5.5 mm, roughly the height of two lines of small handwriting.** That makes it a marker rather than a decoration: a sun on a date, a check by a task, a face for the day's mood.

A 5.5 mm icon fits inside a day cell of most monthly calendars; on the 3.7 mm grid of a [Hobonichi Techo Original](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/hobonichi-techo-original/) it covers about one and a half squares. For larger layouts, such as a time tracker, a [Midori Paintable Stamp Half Size](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/midori-paintable-stamp-half-size/) prints up to about 61 × 30.5 mm.

## How does the push-button mechanism work?

**Each design sits under its own button, like a key on a keyboard; pressing one stamps only that design.** Kodomo no Kao compares it to a keyboard and says a light press gives a clean print.

Because the face is small and the stick sits flat on the page, lining it up is easy. That's the main reason planner users choose it over a full-size rubber stamp and a separate pad.

## Which designs are there?

**Kodomo no Kao's current 1850 series has six sticks, each a theme of six icons.** The renewal also changed the body from cream beige to light grey and the package from blue to pink.

| Theme (Japanese name) | Item no. | JAN |
|---|---|---|
| Weather log (天気ログ) | 1850-001 | 4990212056017 |
| Schedule (予定を管理) | 1850-002 | 4990212056024 |
| Today's mood (今日はどんな気持ち？) | 1850-003 | 4990212056031 |
| Work (お仕事に便利) | 1850-004 | 4990212056048 |
| Various marks (色々なマーク) | 1850-005 | 4990212056055 |
| Flapjack octopus and friends (メンダコと仲間たち) | 1850-006 | 4990212056062 |

The earlier 1800 series ran to 15 themes, including health, fruit, stationery and fan activities (推す予定), and some are now discontinued. Hobonichi sells its own editions, such as Animal Parade and Yummy Days at ¥1,045 (about US$6.60) and a Moomin edition at ¥1,320 (about US$8.40), all prices including tax.

## Is the ink waterproof?

**It's a pigment oil-based ink, and Kodomo no Kao says water-based pens won't make it bleed.** Hobonichi adds that the ink doesn't smudge, so you can layer colors over it.

That makes it safe to color in with a highlighter and to write beside with a gel pen. Kodomo no Kao gives about 1,000 prints per design, and Hobonichi says there are no refills: when a design runs dry, you replace the stick.

## What are the downsides?

**The designs are fixed and too small for anything but marking.** If you want text, a date or a big decorative stamp, you need a different tool, such as the [Midori Paintable Rotating Date Stamp](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/midori-paintable-rotating-date-stamp/).

Each stick also comes in a fixed mix of ink colors, so you can't choose a color per icon. And because it's disposable, a favorite design costs a new stick after about 1,000 prints.

## Where is the Pochitto6 made?

**Kodomo no Kao's Japanese product pages say made in China.** The Journal Shop lists Japan as the country of origin, so check the package; we go with the maker's statement.
