## What is the Pentel Hi-Polymer eraser?

**It's a white block eraser in a paper sleeve, and the ZEH10 is the size most US stores stock.** Pentel, the Tokyo maker of the [Pentel Twist-Erase III](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/pentel-twist-erase-iii/), sells it for pencil marks on paper.

It is one of the best-rated erasers at US office stores. Staples' 3-pack listing shows 4.84 stars from 1,187 customer reviews, and AsinSight's June 2026 Amazon eraser report placed a Hi-Polymer listing third, behind a Staedtler pack and the Tombow MONO Zero.

The codes, UPCs and origin are from Pentel of America; the size is from Swiss Post and Cromwell, and US distributors give the same in inches. Pentel doesn't publish a size or weight in the sources we found.

## Is the ZEH10 sold in Japan?

**Not under that code, as far as we found: Pentel's Japanese site doesn't list a ZEH10 or a Hi-Polymer eraser.** In Japan, Pentel's block erasers are sold under the Ain brand. Pentel's Japanese product page lists the Ain eraser for light erasing in small (ZEAH06) and large (ZEAH10) sizes, at ¥77 (about US$0.50) and ¥132 (about US$0.80) including tax, plus black versions and multipacks. The Ain is a different product from the ZEH10, so its codes, size and origin don't carry over to the Hi-Polymer.

## Is the ZEH10 large or medium?

**Pentel of America calls the ZEH10 large: it sits between the small ZEH05 and the extra-large ZEH20, with a super extra-large ZEH99 above that.** Walmart and a Singapore retailer also say large, while PartsSource and Cromwell say "medium" for the same 65 mm block, so go by the code. Pentel of America also sells a pink ZEH10.

The pack codes add letters to the same base: BP3 for a blister of three and PC10 for a box of ten.

## What is it made of?

**Pentel calls it a "Hi-Polymer" eraser; one US distributor lists the 3-pack's material as PVC.** That puts it in the same vinyl family as most white block erasers.

Pentel of America describes it as non-abrasive and latex-free and says it won't crack or harden with age, a maker claim we haven't tested. Walmart says it is AP certified nontoxic.

## How does it compare with the Staedtler Mars plastic?

**They're near twins: the same 65 mm length, with the Hi-Polymer slightly wider and thinner.**

| | Pentel Hi-Polymer ZEH10 | [Staedtler Mars plastic 526 50](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/staedtler-mars-plastic-eraser/) |
|---|---|---|
| Size | 65 × 24.5 × 12.5 mm | 65 × 23 × 13 mm |
| Sleeve | Blue and black paper | Blue |
| Latex-free | Yes (per retailers) | Yes (per retailers) |
| Made in | Taiwan (Pentel of America) | Germany (per retailers) |
| Price band | $ (under $5) | $ (under $5) |

Both suit graphite on paper. For a single letter, a pen-style eraser such as the [Tombow MONO Zero](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/tombow-mono-zero-eraser/) is more precise.

## How do you get the cleanest erase?

**Press lightly and let the eraser do the work.** Pentel of America says it removes lead cleanly with very little pressure, and pressing hard on thin paper is what scuffs the surface and leaves a shiny patch.

Rub in one direction, brush the crumbs off rather than wiping them across the page, and wipe a dirty eraser on scrap paper first. A grey eraser face carries graphite back onto the sheet.

## Which pencils is it good with?

**Any graphite pencil, from school #2 to soft drawing grades.** For everyday writing it pairs with a [Ticonderoga #2](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/ticonderoga-2-pencil/) or a [Pentel Sharp P205](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/pentel-sharp-p205/); soft grades leave more graphite to lift.

Use a clean corner for small areas. Pentel says to keep it in the sleeve, which also keeps the eraser from picking up dirt that would smear.

## Where is the Pentel Hi-Polymer made?

**In Taiwan: Pentel of America's 2023–2024 product guide gives Taiwan as the origin of its Hi-Polymer block erasers (the eraser caps are made in China).** PartsSource and On Time Supplies list Taiwan for the single, the 3-pack and the box of 10.

Pentel is a Japanese brand; since April 1, 2026, the company behind it is called ASTRUM Corporation. Pentel's Japanese site doesn't list the ZEH10 at all.

## Frequently asked questions

### How big is the Pentel Hi-Polymer eraser?

The ZEH10 is listed at 65 × 24.5 × 12.5 mm, about 2.6 × 1 × 0.5 in. A Singapore retailer gives 66 × 20 × 13 mm, so expect small differences between listings.

### Is the Pentel Hi-Polymer eraser latex-free?

Yes. US listings describe it as latex-free and AP certified nontoxic, and a Staples reviewer with a latex allergy reported using it.

### Is the ZEH10 large or medium?

Large, according to Pentel of America, which sells the ZEH10 as its large block between the small ZEH05 and the extra-large ZEH20. PartsSource and Cromwell call it medium, so go by the code.

### What is the sleeve on a Hi-Polymer eraser for?

Pentel of America says block erasers should be used and stored in their protective sleeve. It keeps the eraser clean in a bag or case, and you slide it back as the eraser wears.

### Is the Pentel Hi-Polymer better than the Staedtler Mars plastic?

They're close: both are white vinyl-type block erasers of the same 65 mm length. The Hi-Polymer is 1.5 mm wider and 0.5 mm thinner; we haven't tested them side by side yet.

### Does the Hi-Polymer eraser get hard over time?

Pentel of America says it won't crack or harden with age. That's a maker claim; keeping it in the sleeve away from heat and plastic pencil cases helps any eraser last.

### Where is the Pentel Hi-Polymer eraser made?

In Taiwan, according to Pentel of America's product guide. Pentel itself is based in Tokyo, Japan.
