What are Hobonichi Transparent Dot Stickers?
They are small round stickers of tinted, clear PET plastic that Hobonichi sells for marking and color-coding its Techo planners. In Japanese they’re シースルー丸シール (see-through round stickers), part of TSUKI no IRO (“colors of the months”), a line built on the 12 calm colors used in the Original, Cousin and HON books.
Because the plastic is transparent, a dot can sit over a date, a grid square or a word and still let it show. Hobonichi says the three sizes are made to sit comfortably in the grid of the Hobonichi Techo Original and its other planners.

Counts, sheet size, weight, material and price come from Hobonichi’s Japanese store listing (TSUKI no IRO シースルー丸シール), which gives the sheet as 126 mm tall and 74 mm wide; the price includes Japanese tax. Luiban gives the same 126 × 74 mm and 1 g.
Which size should you choose?
Pick 3.5 mm for checklists and habit trackers, 6 mm for highlighting or sorting, and 15 mm for pinning a memo or decorating a page. Those are the uses Hobonichi suggests for each size.
| Size | Grid squares it covers | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| 3.5 mm | 1 square on the 3.7 mm daily grid | Bullets, habit dots, color-coding lines |
| 6 mm | About 1.6 squares | Marking a date on the monthly calendar |
| 15 mm | About 4 squares | Circling a whole day number or a heading |
On the monthly calendar pages, whose grid is 3.45 mm, a 3.5 mm dot is very slightly wider than one square. The 3.5 mm set gives the most dots per yen, at 576.
What are the 12 colors?
The 12 colors are Hobonichi’s TSUKI no IRO month colors, one for each month of the year. In The Journal Shop’s English names, January to June are Mandarin Orange, Brown Black, Plum Purple, Poppy Red, Avocado Green and Green Black; July to December are Nemophila Blue, Blue Black, Cappuccino Brown, Violet, Emerald and Red.
Every set has all 12 colors in equal numbers, so you can give each month, person or project its own color. The same names appear on other TSUKI no IRO items, such as a set of uni-ball One gel pens.
Can you write on or through the dots?
You can read through them: the dots are tinted clear PET, so the grid and handwriting underneath stay visible. Hobonichi doesn’t say which pens write on top of the plastic. PET is slick, so ink from water-based pens may bead or smear.
How do they compare to other Hobonichi stickers?
The dot stickers are the plainest, most functional Hobonichi stickers: color, not pictures. The other everyday Techo add-on is the Hobonichi Pencil Board, a 0.4 mm sheet that goes under the page you’re writing on.
| Hobonichi sticker | What you get | Material |
|---|---|---|
| Transparent Dot Stickers | 48 to 576 round dots, 2 sheets | Clear PET |
| TSUKI no IRO Sticker Set (Schedule) | 5 sheets of 148 × 100 mm, including icon stickers | Paper |
| Frame Stickers | 81 frames on 4 sheets, for writing inside | Tracing paper |
For dating undated pages, the Frame Stickers for Dates pack holds 100 see-through frames on 5 sheets.
For illustrated stickers, washi sheets such as Midori Yuru Log stickers are removable and printed with small animals and flowers. Loose flake stickers such as Mind Wave Washi Flowers come 40 to a pack, each about 1 in across. US sticker books such as Happy Planner value packs carry hundreds of stickers per book but are sized for larger planners.
Where are Hobonichi Transparent Dot Stickers made?
Luiban gives Japan as the country of origin. Hobonichi is based in Tokyo, but its Japanese and English store pages don’t state where the stickers are made.
Frequently asked questions
What sizes do Hobonichi Transparent Dot Stickers come in?
Three diameters: 3.5 mm, 6 mm and 15 mm. Each is sold as its own set of two sheets.
How many stickers are in a set?
Hobonichi's Japanese store lists 576 dots in the 3.5 mm set, 192 in the 6 mm set and 48 in the 15 mm set: 48, 16 and 4 dots per color across the 12 colors, on 2 sheets.
What are the 12 TSUKI no IRO colors?
TSUKI no IRO means "colors of the months", the 12 colors printed on the Techo's monthly pages. The Journal Shop names them Mandarin Orange, Brown Black, Plum Purple, Poppy Red, Avocado Green and Green Black for January to June, then Nemophila Blue, Blue Black, Cappuccino Brown, Violet, Emerald and Red.
Do the dot stickers fit the Hobonichi Techo grid?
Hobonichi says the three sizes are made to sit comfortably in the Techo's grid. On the 3.7 mm daily grid, a 3.5 mm dot fits inside one square; on the monthly pages, whose grid is 3.45 mm, it is a touch wider than a square.
